BRISBANE, Australia, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 homes in flood-ravaged Bundaberg in Queensland, Australia, have been destroyed and another 30 have been severely damaged, local media reported on Friday.
Nearly a thousand flood-affected Bundaberg residents gathered at the city's Moncrieff Theater on Friday morning for an update from emergency authorities, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
The residents have been told that the flood damage in North Bundaberg is terrible. Bundaberg Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Byrne told the gathering that residents of North Bundaberg would be allowed to return to their homes to check on their properties by Friday afternoon.
But he warned people to take extra care when going inside their properties because they may not be structurally safe.
