The United Nations – Arab League special joint envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi has recently visited China and had an in-depth discussion with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on the current situation in Syria and the solution to Syrian crisis. On behalf of the Chinese government, Yang put forward the four-point proposal on Syria. It is in line with the six-point proposal previously suggested by China, which reflects China's concerns about Syrian issue, its principle and stance. According to the changing Syrian situation, the improving four-point proposal embodies China's responsibility as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council and its comprehensive, impartial and pragmatic attitude on international affairs.
Due to ever-escalating violent conflicts, Syria is the focus of attention of all sides concerned and they both highly expect and feel worried about the political mediation.
