Remain optimistic about the future development
As a whole, college students born in the 1980s and 1990s believe the development prospect of Chinese economy, politics and society is promising.
Most of respondents expressed an optimistic attitude toward the future development trend. They have the most optimistic view of the economic situation, followed by the view of social situation.
According to the survey data, more than 70 percent of college students think that the economic situation will have a good and comparatively good change in the next decade.
Although college students do not have an attitude toward the social situation as optimistic as they have toward the economic situation, they mostly think that it will be better in the future. About 59 percent of them said that the social situation will have a good and comparatively good change in the future, while only 15 percent think it will get worse.
During the survey, the college students born in the 1980s and 1990s think that the most unlikely social risks are the security problems caused by terrorism as well as large-scale political storms in the next five years, and considerable decline of social trust, high unemployment, intensification of conflict of interests between social groups and substantial rise in prices are more likely to cause risks.
These data were obtained by the Institute of Sociology under CASS after making a survey to the undergraduates and graduates of 12 colleges and universities in 2012, and were a preliminary descriptive analysis about the social and political attitudes of the college students and graduates.
