5. The Palace Museum has announced its new head and presented new face

Shan Jixiang has become the director of the Palace Museum at the beginning of 2012. He put forward four new policies and measures: Firstly, commercial stands and temporary exhibitions at the Duanman Gate area have been removed and 28 ticket boxes will be set up. Secondly, no offices will be set in the museum by 2016 to make sure it becomes a completely closed security area at night. The move will increase the space open to the public from 46 percent to 76 percent. Thirdly, a modern exhibition hall will be formed after finishing repairing Wumen Gate and Yanchi Gate. Fourthly, security facilities should be improved, "the security facilities and technologies of the Palace Museum should be the world's most advanced system".
