3. Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature

Chinese writer Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature, Swedish Academy in Stockholm announced on Oct. 11, 2012. Mo Yan became the first Chinese national to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2012 is awarded to Chinese Mo Yan because his " hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and the contemporary".

Mo Yan received the medal of Nobel Prize in Literature from Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf at Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden on Dec. 10.
