The dark winter months in Rotterdam, Netherlands, are being lit up with an unusual event. China Light Rotterdam, which began in early December, has turned the city into a fairytale paradise. For this unique spectacle, 40 Chinese artists present 35 luminous moving images, attracting tens of thousands of visitors.

Brighten up your winter with a visit to China Light Rotterdam, the biggest light spectacle in Europe, filled with dazzling illuminated figures!

This unique celebration brings over 40 Chinese artists to Holland to create a magical, fairy-tale paradise including dozens of large lantern sculptures, laser shows plus a dance and musical performance.

Illuminated moving figures including flowers and animals are just a few of the dozens of enchanting light displays. Artists have even created a 100-meter-long dragon for this vibrant festival of lights.

The tradition of lighting lanterns began centuries ago. On the 15th day of the first month of Chinese lunar calendar, people light fireworks and lanterns to pray for a good harvest. This year's light festival in Rotterdam runs until February 14.
