Beijing, Nov. 23 (People's Daily Online reporter Zheng Qingting)—Starting from May 15, 2012, China's police departments issued a new, microchipped ordinary passport which contains digitized data of the bearer's fingerprint and signature, in addition to the bearer's name, birth date and portrait photo.
In the outward appearance design, the microchipped ordinary passport adopted “glorious China” pattern elements as its theme. Representative elements of China’s 31 provinces, municipalities and regions and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as character images of China’s 56 nations are expressed through ordinary light, fluorescent light and watermark.
