Chinese navy hospital ship concludes medical mission in Senegal
DAKAR, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy hospital ship Auspicious Ark left Senegal on Thursday after completing a friendly visit and medical mission as part of Mission Harmony-2026.
The ship departed the Port of Dakar at around 10:00 a.m. local time.
Senegalese military and government officials, representatives of military personnel, the Chinese ambassador to Senegal, the defense attache at the Chinese Embassy in Senegal and embassy staff, local residents, and representatives of the Chinese community and Chinese enterprises gathered at the port to see it off.
Since arriving on Sept. 25, medical staff aboard the ship recorded 6,060 patient visits among Senegalese residents and members of the local Chinese community, performed 29 surgeries, including ophthalmic and general surgical procedures, and conducted 61 health checkups.
Medical members working ashore provided a further 350 consultations at local health centers and conducted two rounds of health education and skills training for 150 locals, with the services receiving widespread praise from various sectors of Senegalese society.
