China, Britain should continue to improve bilateral ties: Chinese foreign ministry
BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- China and Britain should work in the same direction and keep up the momentum of improving and developing bilateral ties, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing when answering a query related to the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The resignation of Starmer is an internal affair of Britain, and China will not comment on it, Guo said.
"China and Britain are both permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies in the world. Developing a long-term and stable comprehensive strategic partnership serves the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples, and it's conducive to world peace, stability and prosperity," the spokesperson noted.
China and Britain should work in the same direction, deepen bilateral cooperation and multilateral coordination, and jointly keep up the momentum of improving and developing bilateral relations, Guo said.
