BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China's capital city Beijing recorded 8.466 million tourist visits during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism said Sunday.

Total tourism revenue reached 11.35 billion yuan (about 1.67 billion U.S. dollars), according to the bureau.

The city also registered 87,000 inbound tourist visits, up 31.2 percent from the same period last year, while inbound tourism spending hit 950 million yuan, up 31.4 percent year on year.

During the holiday, Beijing hosted a variety of cultural and tourism activities, amounting to some 2,000 events.

The bureau released 10 festival-themed travel routes, which spurred a surge in family outings. Events blending traditional Chinese culture with modern, trendy elements attracted large numbers of young visitors seeking immersive and interactive experiences, while traditional dragon boat races and garden fairs attracted residents and tourists alike to the distinctive charms of folk customs.

The city staged 1,136 commercial performances across 280 shows during the holiday, official data showed.

The municipal bureau also launched 10 exhibition-themed travel routes, linking over 20 exhibitions with surrounding cultural venues, historic neighborhoods and commercial districts, effectively spurring integrated spending across these areas.
