BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Water Resources Monday terminated a level-four emergency response to flooding, as heavy rains in southern parts of the country since June 20 gradually ended.
Downpours hit parts of southwest China, regions south of the Yangtze River, and south China between June 20 and 26. Water levels surpassed the warning lines in 45 rivers in the affected areas, according to the ministry.
On June 19, the ministry activated a level-four emergency response to flooding in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan.
China has a four-tier flood-control emergency response system, with level one being the strongest.
