The number of graduates from Chinese colleges is expected to reach 8.7 million in 2020, bringing about a new record high. To assist them, Chinese local governments, universities and enterprises have taken actions to digitalize their services as nationwide offline recruiting activities have all been suspended.

Dezhou in east China's Shandong province currently held the first online job fair, with 271 companies offering 1,416 jobs. By Feb. 16, 1,671 job hunters had delivered 4,412 resumes.

Therein, tech companies such as Huawei and Netease have moved their school recruiting activities online. At the same time, banks including China Merchants Bank and Postal Savings Bank of China have also joined the fray.

Meanwhile, colleges have done their utmost to provide convenience for their graduates.

“We have contacted with some companies to coordinate online enrollment,” said Qi Xuejing, a staff member at the School of Journalism and Communication of Beijing Normal University, adding that the university has communicated with enterprises to arrange video interviews for the fresh graduates.

Peking University had offered free online training on interviews for the national civil servant exam for 283 fresh graduates between Feb. 6 an 9.

“Our university will carry out more targeted online employment services to help graduates secure jobs,” said a staff at the Student Career Center of the university.
