China’s next-generation subway car was accepted by an expert team in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong province on Dec. 17, marking the latest industry achievements made by China.
The team comprised of 13 experts and scholars from China’s scientific institutions, universities and enterprises.
The next-generation subway car has been developed for future demand. After R&D began in 2015, the subway was assembled last year and completed in-factory testing this June.
This September, it ran on Line 8 of the Guangzhou Metro for route testing and demonstration.

The body, truck frame, driver’s cabin and equipment cabin are all made of compound carbon fibers, reducing the train’s weight by 13 percent.
In addition, the latest sound-proof materials, structure and technologies applied can lower interior noise by at least 5 dB.
The train runs faster than ordinary subway trains, and can reach a top speed of 140 kilometers per hour on autopilot. What’s more, the windows can turn into a touch screen where passengers can surf the internet and watch videos.
