The South-to-North Water Diversion Project has covered more than 40 cities and directly benefited more than 120 million people over the past five years since the time it was completed.

The South–North Water Diversion Project brings water from the Yangtze River to the Huai, Yellow and Haihe rivers, nourishing more than 40 cities in the region and directly benefiting more than 120 million people.

The project helps alleviate water shortages and ensure water safety, and amounts to a vivid realization of human and water resource harmony.

The people benefiting from the project can feel tangible results, such as better water quality, a more beautiful environment and more sufficient water supplies.

"The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is more than just water supply; it is a strategic choice to ensure water security," said E Jingping, Minister of Water Resources, adding that China will make the project a new and greater contribution to sustainable and healthy economic development.
