The night economy in Shanghai is more than food stalls; it is boosted by a variety of commercial activities, such as enjoying flower exhibitions, watching movies, visiting zoos and going to museums.

Visitors can enjoy the chrysanthemum at night in Shanghai Gongqing Forest park, thanks to the first use of advanced lighting and AR technology. Visitors can also go to the first batch of 24-hour cinemas in Shanghai to enjoy the night time.

Meanwhile, there is also China's first characteristic night wildlife park in Shanghai with more than 100 species of animals; 14 museums inlcuding Shanghai Museum are now open at night.

As late-night malls keep popping up, the operation time of several subway lines is extended on weekends. Shanghai’s snack streets and bars are also crowed by customers at night.

Furthermore, the first batch of landmark nightlife clusters which covers six districts including Huangpu, Pudong, Yangpu, Xuhui, Jing 'an and Minhang was released by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce on September 20, adding new momentum to the development of night economy in Shanghai.

Alibaba's "night economy" report released in July showed that Shanghai led the country in terms of night consumption.
