China's game market increases global influence

(People's Daily Online)    17:41, December 06, 2019

China's game market has increased its global influence. As of September 2019, the growth rate of overseas market revenue for China's gaming market was even faster than that of domestic market revenue.

Chinese games have been exported to the U.S., Japan, South Korea and other overseas countries or regions, as this has become an important field for Chinese culture to go abroad, according to the latest data.

In 2018, the actual sales revenue of China's online games with independent R&D in overseas markets reached $9.6 billion, up 15.8 percent year-on-year.

The total number of game users in China climbed to 626 million in 2018, and the revenue of China's game market increased nearly 10 times from a decade ago, to 214.4 billion yuan (about $30.5 billion).

China's online gaming began in the mid-1990s. In less than 30 years, online games have penetrated all aspects of social life. For teenagers in the digital age, online games are one of the main entertainment lifestyles they come into contact with.
