The 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention closed on Oct. 23, 2019, marking an end to one of the most anticipated UK-Chinese business events of the year – the first of its kind to be held in Europe. Over 3,500 guests attended the four-day event, which aimed to promote healthy relationships between British and Chinese businesses around the world.
Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, gave a speech that confirmed the WCEC's vast contributions to China-Britain relations and the Chinese and British economy. According to Liu, the WCEC is a hub of connectivity, bringing Chinese business people together with both European and local business communities, thus connecting the world to China. He expressed hope that the event would play a unique role by encouraging China and the UK to work together toward reaching the goals of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The event provided businesses with a platform to showcase their latest ventures and investments in line with the themes of 'Best of China' and 'Best of Britain'.
Representatives from 21 of the most progressive companies aimed to promote further collaboration between the UK and China. At a time when uncertainty plagues the UK, the WCEC focused on finding innovative ways to work together toward business growth and prosperity.

Notable attendees included Aston Martin, the London Stock Exchange, and George Pragnell, a high-end jewelry manufacturer based in the UK. Exhibitors from China included the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympic Games Organising Committee, Century Golden Resources Group, China Eastern Airlines Group Co Ltd, Zhongguancun Development Group, and China Baoxin Group Co Ltd.
Yang Tengbo gave a thank-you speech at the closing ceremony. He said that this year's WCEC was a great success due to the support of the Chinese and British government and the British royal family. He added that the conference, which was held in a Western setting for the first time this year, was able to fully demonstrate the strengths of Chinese business alongside their British counterparts, connecting the resources of China and the UK to promote further cooperation.
