A primary school student in Qingdao recently received a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, which has inspired her whole school, according to an article published by Global Times on Oct. 29, 2019.

Cheng Guo is not good at communicating with her friends. To enhance his daughter's confidence and communication skills, her father signed her up to a student press corps for training. He often watched the news with his daughter, tuning in to the foreign ministry speeches at home.

Gradually, she talked more and was willing to communicate with her classmates. Cheng Guo's father, Cheng Gong, was happy to see his daughter's change, and encouraged her to say what she wanted.

Therefore, before National Day this year, she wrote a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in which she expressed her best wishes for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In the letter she wrote "over the past 70 years, our motherland has become stronger and stronger, and has established peaceful and friendly diplomatic relations with countries around the world. I am very proud to be Chinese!"

At the same time, she expressed her ambition in the letter. She mentioned that she would study hard and hoped to be an excellent diplomat when she grows up. Her father then delivered the letter to the post office together with his daughter on Sept. 29.

Surprisingly, on Oct. 23, they received a reply from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. In the response, the ministry thanked Cheng for her interest in China's policy, and said that her letter was very encouraging, which inspired them and gave them hope for the future. In the letter, the ministry wrote that the great renewal of the Chinese nation is at a crucial stage, and the realization of this dream cannot be achieved without the efforts of her generation.

At the end of the letter, the foreign ministry spokesperson's office also encouraged her dream of joining the diplomatic team and believed that through hard-work, she would succeed. They noted that they are looking forward to seeing her in the diplomatic corps one day. A signed envelope also accompanied the letter from foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying and Geng Shuang.

"I am so excited; I will remember every sentence in the letter!" said Cheng Guo with excitement. Cheng Guo's teacher and father both thought the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' reply was the best encouragement she could have received.
