The demand for the medical equipment and health care product exhibitions is so huge that some medical companies have already signed agreements of intent with the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Bureau to take part in the third and fourth expos, the bureau disclosed on Oct. 26, ThePaper.cn reported.
These companies include pharmaceutical giant Sanofi, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic and Terumo Medical Corporation, among others.
The booths of medical equipment and health care products had been fully booked by the end of March 2019, three months before the CIIE Bureau started to invite exhibitors from around the world to join the CIIE, said Wu Jun, who helps the CIIE run the exhibition area of medical equipment and health care products.
The CIIE Bureau expanded the exhibition area by 15,000 square meters to 45,000 square meters. But that was not enough, Wu said.
“Last year, the exhibition area of medical equipment and health care products covered 30,000 square meters. This year, a rehabilitation and elderly care products exhibition booth was established, so we enlarged the exhibition area,” Wu said.
The exhibition area mainly displays four types of products: medicine, medical apparatuses as well as instruments, health care products, rehabilitation and aged care products.
The number of Fortune Global 500 companies and leading companies to take part in the second CIIE has doubled compared to the numbers that attended the first CIIE, said Wu, adding that about 200 new medical products and technologies will debut at the second CIIE.
