This October, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent 11 congratulatory letters within eight days to 11 international events, expressing China's sincere wishes to intensify technological exchanges and enhance economic and trade cooperation with various countries, while manifesting the country's resolve to stick to the road of peaceful development and promote joint efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Promoting sustainable development with sci-tech innovation

On Oct. 16, the 1st World Science and Technology Development Forum kicked off in Beijing, followed by the 2019 Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum) on Oct. 17, 2019, the Industrial Internet Global Summit in Shenyang on Oct. 18, and the 83rd general meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in Shanghai on Oct. 21.

The new round of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation will have a profound impact on the evolution of human civilization and the development of the global governance system, Xi said in his letter to the 1st World Science and Technology Development Forum.

"Promoting sustainable development with sci-tech innovation has become the way that we must take to solve some important global issues of common concern," Xi noted.

"China is willing to take an active part in global innovation cooperation, share development achievements with other countries and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity," said Xi in his congratulatory letter to the 2019 ZGC Forum held in Beijing.

In his letter to the 2019 Industrial Internet Global Summit, Xi said China attaches great importance to the innovative development of the industrial internet, stressing that China is willing to work with the international community to continually enhance the innovation capability of the industrial internet, so as to realize the integrated development of industrialization and informatization on a broader, deeper and higher level.

China will continue to support and participate in international standardization activities, and work with other countries to improve the system and governance structure of international standards, to give full play to the role of international standards in international trade and global governance, Xi noted in his letter to the 83rd IEC General Meeting.

China's door will only open wider

By holding the 2019 China Marine Economy Expo, China aimed to build a platform for open and win-win cooperation for countries along the seas, Xi said in his congratulatory letter to the 2019 China Marine Economy Expo that opened on Oct. 15 in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong province.

He hopes the expo's participants will deepen exchanges and cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust, mutual help and mutual benefit, and help people around the world share in development of the marine economy, Xi noted.

On Oct. 21, Xi sent a congratulatory letter to the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum held in Samoa's capital city of Apia.

Holding the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum was an important consensus reached between Xi and leaders of the Pacific island countries, Xi said in his letter, noting that he hopes that the two sides will make full use of this important platform to strengthen dialogue, communication and cooperation so as to push for greater progress in bilateral cooperation.

In his congratulatory letter to the first Qingdao Multinationals Summit that kicked off in Qingdao city of east China's Shandong province, Xi stressed that China's door would only open wider, the business environment will only get better, while opportunities for global multinationals will only increase.

Promote world peace and development as well as the building of a community with a shared future for humankind

It is the collective responsibility of the international community to develop, use and govern the internet well so that it can better benefit humankind, Xi said in his congratulatory letter to the 6th World Internet Conference (WIC), which opened on Oct. 20 in the ancient water town of Wuzhen, east China's Zhejiang province.

Countries should follow the trend of the times, shoulder the developmental responsibility, meet the challenges and risks, jointly promote global governance in cyberspace and strive to build a community with a shared future in cyberspace, Xi stressed in his letter.

On Oct. 17, the 4th China-Arab States Broadcasting and Television Cooperation Forum opened in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province.

In his congratulatory letter to the forum, Xi noted that he hopes China and Arab countries will join in promoting integrated media development, building intelligent broadcasting and television media outlets and developing intelligent broadcasting and television networks so as to make greater contributions to boosting people-to-people ties between China and Arab states and advance the China-Arab states strategic partnership.

On Oct. 22, Xi sent a congratulatory letter to the Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum 2019 that kicked off in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi province.

The country is ready to work with the international community to strengthen energy cooperation in all aspects, safeguard energy security, address climate change, protect the ecology and environment, promote sustainable development and bring more benefits to people around the world, Xi said in his letter.

During the opening ceremony of the 9th Beijing Xiangshang Forum, which kicked off in Beijing on Oct. 20 and lasted until Oct. 22, attendees listened to a congratulatory letter from Xi.

Peace is the eternal aspiration of humankind, and China has stuck to facilitating cooperation through dialogue, promoting peace through cooperation, and safeguarding development through peace, Xi said in his letter.

Xi stressed that various countries in the Asia-Pacific region should stick together and firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, continually improve the new type of security partnership, and build a security architecture fitting the regional reality, to better promote lasting peace and collective security in the Asia-Pacific region.
