More outstanding Chinese films, animations, and television dramas are being dubbed into Burmese and brought to cinemas, television channels, and villages in Myanmar, boosting people-to-people bonds between the two countries, Guang Ming Daily reported on Oct. 14.

The Chinese Film Festival 2019 recently kicked off at Aungthapyay Cinema in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw. U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information in Myanmar, attended and cut the ribbon at the event's opening ceremony.

Student and teacher representatives from two of the China-Myanmar friendship schools, Chinese officials in charge of international poverty reduction cooperation projects in Myanmar, and villagers from the project's demonstration villages were also invited to the opening ceremony of the Chinese Film Festival 2019, which was followed by a showing of dubbed Chinese films.

China and Myanmar are making active efforts to jointly promote the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, said U Aung Hla Tun at the opening ceremony, noting that the holding of the Chinese Film Festival in Myanmar reflected the fruits of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

As a bridge of communication between different nations, culture can effectively enhance friendship between countries, said U Aung Hla Tun, who continued that the Chinese Film Festival in Myanmar this year focuses on folk stories and social development in China, which helps to promote the understanding of Chinese society, and strengthens friendship between the two peoples.

The Chinese Film Festival has taken place in various cities throughout Myanmar since its inception in 2017.

During the Chinese Film Festival 2019 in Myanmar, six Chinese films were shown in the country for free, including "Operation Mekong", "Six Years, Six Days", "Running Like Wind", "A Smile from the Mountain", "Hello Mr. Billionaire", and "The Thousand Faces of Dunjia".

Popular Chinese TV dramas have also been brought to Myanmar and have been well-received in the country.

Earlier this year, with the joint efforts of the state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) and China's Guangxi Radio and Television Information Network Corporation, a dubbed version of the famous Chinese TV series "A Dream of Red Mansions (1987 version)" aired on MRTV with great success.

According to reports, a good number of Chinese classical TV series including "Journey to the West (1986 version)" and "Romance of the Three Kingdoms (1994 version)" and documentaries such as "The Hexi Corridor" and "To Live for Food" will be dubbed and aired on platforms in Myanmar including MRTV and SkyNet World Drama Channel.
