The People's Republic of China has made remarkable achievements in the sphere of infrastructure construction since it was founded in 1949. By the end of 2018, the country had built 851,500 highway bridges altogether, with a staggering total length of 55,685,900 meters.
These bridges demonstrate the rising national strength of China as well as the spirits of the Chinese people to strive to overcome difficulties in the construction process.
Xingkang Bridge is part of an expressway that links Ya'an city and Kangding county in southwest China's Sichuan province. The tunnel anchorage on the Ya'an bank is the longest in the world with a total length of 159 meters, which helps solidify the bridge against the strong winds in the high-altitude valley.
