The year of 2019 marks the 70th anniversary since the People's Republic of China was founded. New China's diplomacy has facilitated the historical development of the country and the dramatic changes of the relations between China and the world.
Until now, China has established diplomatic relations with 179 countries and 110 partnerships in various forms. Besides, it has joined nearly all intergovernmental organizations and more than 500 international conventions.
It is now a permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) and the second largest contributor to the UN regular budget as well as to the UN peacekeeping budget. Besides, its share of voting rights at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund has risen to third place.
Meanwhile, China has hosted several summits for the Group of Twenty (G20), the ASIA-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) etc., and established multilateral financial institutions including the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), gaining a bigger say in international affairs.
China's development and progress cannot be achieved without the global economic environment. Furthermore, the world's peace and prosperity depends on China to a certain extent. In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a world development strategy, to suit the global trend.
Since then, China has sealed deals to cooperate with more than 160 countries and international organizations. The country has also held two Belt and Road forums for international cooperation achieving more than 550 related results, generating new opportunities to promote China's openness and development and benefit the people of the world.
As the largest developing country, China is deeply concerned about other developing partners. The country has provided nearly 400 billion yuan of development assistance for more than 160 countries and international organizations and dispatched over 600,000 aid workers overseas.
China is committed to breaking the zero-sum game, where only the winner takes all, and has been advocating the new concept of mutual aid and win-win cooperation. Furthermore, it has always welcomed global countries to get on board the fast train of its development.
Since its reform and opening up in 1978, China has attracted non-financial foreign direct investment of over $2 trillion and established nearly 1 million foreign-invested enterprises.
In 2018, China’s non-financial foreign direct investment reached $120.5 billion. The total import and export volume of goods stood at $4.6 trillion, ranking first in the world for two consecutive years.
China has adhered to fairness and justice in international politics, practiced creation of mutual benefit and common development in international cooperation schemes while also advocating mutual respect and loyalty during international exchanges, thereby winning wide acclaim and respect from the international community.
