A man has live broadcasted the flag-raising ceremony at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing over 600 times since November 2017. Each time, several thousand people tune in to watch, cnr.com reported on Aug. 24.
39-year-old Zhang Guoping, from northeast China's Heilongjiang province, said the reason he broadcasts the flag-raising ceremony on short video platforms is to make the ritual accessible for those who can't be there in person.
In summer, the flag-raising ceremony usually starts at 4:45 a.m. Zhang, who lives in the south of the city, has to get up at around 2 a.m. to make it to the ceremony on time.
