China’s new energy carmaker BYD has ranked first among e-bus brands in Europe, occupying over one-fifth of the market share.
The electric buses produced by BYD, a widely accepted alternative in green development, have driven into more than 70 cities in over 20 European countries, including the Netherlands, the UK, France, Spain, and Sweden.
Three 100-percent-electric buses were recently delivered to Beauvais, Dunkerque and Orléans in France. It embodies another step France has taken to spread zero emission vessels across the country.
France boasts a highly developed public transit system, and the largest electric vehicle market in Europe.
Early in 2014, RATP, the largest public transportation company in Europe, committed to the 2025 Bus Plan, a project to convert almost 4,500 diesel vehicles into electrically-powered buses in the Paris region.
Before long, BYD took the opportunity brought by this ambitious plan and established its factory in France, said Leevon Liyun Tian, managing director of BYD France SAS.
Tian added that in March 2017, the company invested 10 million euros for the construction of the second e-bus factory in Europe. Furthermore, the factories will be equipped with after-sales centers and component logistics centers.
BYD is the world’s only company to have the core technology of electric control, producing batteries and electrical machinery. It can develop as well as produce new energy cars and charging facilities, Tian introduced.
BYD’s lithium iron phosphate battery can be used for 12 to 15 years before being replaced, Tian said. A vehicle can go about 250 kilometers on a single charge, and substantially reduces noise pollution.
“BYD cars contribute to the construction of a green industrial system for Beauvais,” said mayor Caroline Cayeux.
Cayeux thanked BYD for its timely investments as more job have been created, and the local economy has been boosted.
“BYD’s electric vehicles bring us green economic growth,” said the mayor. “Its cutting-edge clean energy technology embodies full respect to the environment and resources, and will promote the city’s sustainable development.”
