Students admitted to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences will receive a CPU chip named Loongson in their admission letters. Li Shushen, principal of the university, expressed hope that the chip will encourage students to make progress in the future. Li wrote in the letter that the small chip could drive the entire world. The chip symbolizes the university's dedication to innovation and development.

The Loongson CPU chip has been applied to a series of high-tech projects such as the BeiDou navigation satellite system and cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-1.
