Some Chinese universities recently sparked discussion among netizens for their ingenious graduation gifts, including customized rings and teacher insights on life, a WeChat account of Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.
Southwest Petroleum University in Chengdu, capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, gave every one of its 8,400 senior students a customized ring made of titanium steel.

Each ring was engraved with the badge and name of the university on the exterior, and the recipient’s student number and name on the inner surface.
The ring has proven to be a big hit with the students. The university said they made these unique rings to create a sense of belonging.
Nanjing University of Finance & Economics in Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu Province, gave students who are about to graduate some encouraging words from their teachers.
On the paper cards given to senior students, the teachers had written notes saying things like “You are in your twenties, don’t be afraid of failure and strive for your dreams,” “when you are thirty, take it easy. There’s still time for everything,” and “don’t panic; it’s only sixty.”

Northwest University in Xi’an, capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, drew attention last year for giving each of its 6,819 senior students a jade seal with the owner's name engraved on it.

Other universities across the country also sparked online discussion for heart-warming graduation gifts given last year.
Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics, for example, gave each graduate a card with their school hours and significant moments. Moreover, Beijing University of Technology gave each of its graduates a 3D-printed hammer last year, as every student in the university had taken part in metalwork practice during their four-year college experience.

Seeing these graduation gifts, many internet users expressed their envy, with one saying, “This is another example of the good universities that you didn’t go to. Our university just sent us one thing – it sent us home.” Another joked, “How can I make sure our university president sees this news?”
