President Xi warms hearts by showing his care for the people

(People's Daily Online)    17:36, April 12, 2019

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently warmed the hearts of millions when he attended a tree-planting activity in Tongzhou district, Beijing, on April 8.

In a video released by China Central Television (CCTV), Xi showed his care for local students who were watering trees with him. A girl’s hand was placed between the rim and the handle of her bucket, which looked like it could hurt when the bucket was lifted. Noticing this, the Chinese president reminded her, telling her to move her hand.

This scene warmed the hearts of many Chinese viewers, with many saying that Xi’s smile in the video reminded them of an old photo of the Chinese president 30 years ago.

The photo was taken in 1989, when Xi, as the then Party head in Ningde, southeastern China’s Fujian Province, joined a voluntary labor activity with local cadres. In the picture, he walks confidently in the field, with a hoe on his shoulder.

30 years have passed, but Xi's gestures and aspirations have remained unchanged.

Let's take a look at some of the Chinese president's warmest moments.

In Moscow, Xi met 18 Russian veterans who once fought bravely in the battlefield of Northeast China in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Great Patriotic War. When seeing that one of the representatives had difficulties walking, Xi immediately walked to him and hung the medal around his neck.

When meeting with the 600 representatives attending an award ceremony on ethical role models and pioneers in Beijing on Nov. 17, 2017, Xi took the hands of two senior citizens who had dedicated their lives to building the nation, and invited them to sit with him for a group picture to show his respect.

Local children welcomed Xi on an inspection tour of Guangdong province between Oct. 22 and 25, 2018.

On Feb. 1, 2019, on his way back from visiting residents in Qianmen, Beijing, Xi stopped to meet the couriers at a local service station to learn more about their work and living conditions.

Example is always better than doctrine. Xi’s natural behavior carries the traditional merits of the Chinese nation, and showcases his caring attitude towards the people.
