A number of National People’s Congress (NPC) deputies, who are also business leaders of famous Chinese enterprises, offered their opinions on 5G technology on Mar. 5 outside the venue of the ongoing “two sessions”, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Wednesday.
With the further development of 5G technology, we will see a future Internet-based ecological structure featuring integration and connectivity between human beings, machines, and things, Zhang Jindong, chairman of Suning Holdings Group, one of the leading commercial enterprises in China, said in the square outside the Great Hall of the People, where the “two sessions” take place.
“Big data faces the urgent need for security protection and legitimate use,” explained Zhang, noting that the development of a high-quality digital economy cannot succeed without protection and legitimate sharing of data.
Zhang also pointed out that problems such as lack of regulation and standards on information interaction and sharing are troubling 5G technology developers in the collection, interchange, sharing, development, and utilization of data.
5G technology and artificial intelligence (AI) will significantly help improve work efficiency in manufacturing enterprises and boost the industry's efficiency dividend, said Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Chinese technology giant Lenovo.
Over past decades, China has benefited from a demographic dividend and the dividend from production factors, and is now going to generate an efficiency dividend, said Yang, explaining that AI technology represents great opportunities and can boost economic development together with innovation.
The present intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) can be used in workshops, transportation, and buildings, and it helps intelligentize production lines, thus significantly improving manufacturing efficiency, said Yang, noting that 5G technology guarantees the realization of intelligentialization.
"There are excellent prospects for 5G technology, which can be used in a broad range of areas," said Li Dongsheng, chairman of TCL, a leading home appliance enterprise in China.
5G technology is predicted to bring about changes in application and personal experience, explained Li, who pointed out that the high-speed network generated by 5G technology will make optical fibers obsolete, and will help improve people’s relationship with the Internet.
“TCL has spent years developing 5G technology. We will release our 5G products at the end of this year,” disclosed Li, adding that their products will be launched in domestic and overseas markets simultaneously.
