E-sports hotels become popular among China's young adults

(People's Daily Online)    16:56, March 01, 2019

E-sports hotels, a new place for entertainment and social networking, have been gaining popularity in cities such as Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Xi’an over recent years, China Youth Daily reported on March 1.

Each room in a typical E-sports hotel has two to five computers featuring high configuration. Most E-sports hotels are located near universities or shipping districts in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei province, and males aged between 18 and 30 are the primary guests.

Different from Internet bars, this type of hotel provides a quiet, comfortable and private space for players.

Thanks to E-sports hotels, players don't need to worry that university roommates will be kept up by keyboard clicks, screen light or shouting, which cannot be helped when playing computer games, said Lin Qi, a senior university student.

E-sports hotels are a combination of Internet bar and hotel, said George E-sports Hotel, a chain hotel co-founded by several e-sports players who were born after 1985.

According to reports, the George Hotel has already spread over several cities in Hubei province. Almost all rooms are booked up for the coming weekend.

Data shows that there are nearly 50 E-sports hotels in Wuhan, 90 percent of which opened in 2018.
