On Feb. 20, the world-renowned professional boxing organization, IBF (International Boxing Federation) announced that the 36th IBF Annual Convention will be held in Macao from May 27 to June 1 , with Wynn Palace Cotai as main host venue. IBF has chosen to cooperate with Wynn Palace once again for this year’s event because of their many successful co-operations in the past.

 Mr. Anibal Miramontes, the IBF Ratings Chairman, said that IBF fully values the development potential of the Chinese sports and cultural industry, especially in the professional boxing arena. While professional boxing is representative of the West and traditional martial arts are trademarks of the East, he would like to see greater synergies between them. With the return of the IBF Annual Convention in 2019, the IBF headquarters has affirmed its commitment to China. Over the past few years, the IBF has expanded rapidly in China and expectations are high for future developments. As a destination that offers a blend of Chinese and Western cultures, Macao is the perfect place to host a boxing event of the highest level for visitors to enjoy.

This year’s convention will feature many events in keeping with previous years: the General Assembly, the Judge’s Session, the Ratings Meeting, a Medical Seminar, the Referee’s Seminar and more. There will also be new and creative events, such as Meet the Champions, the Annual Awards dinner, the Gourmet Festival, a social run, city tour and more – all of which embody the professionalism of IBF and give attendees the opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves.

Ruihang Wang, the President of IBF B&R and IBF China said at the press conference: “IBF is the first organization to set up the B&R region inspired by the “Belt and Road” initiative. Over the past few years, IBF has played an important role in promoting the diversified economic development of Macao and bridging communication among people in the Belt and Road region.”

Nearly 1,000 professionals, businessmen and boxing fans from all over the world will attend the 36th IBF Annual Convention in 2019.
