More than 20 Chinese builders spent the Spring Festival holiday building the Oasis Hotel in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held, news portal Jinyun reported on Feb. 10.

As a supporting facility of the football games, the hotel is contracted by China Railway 18 Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Jiang Hualin, general manager of the Qatar company of the Chinese heavy engineering service provider said. In order to complete the project on time and guarantee its quality, they chose to stick to their posts during the holiday.

Jiang had spent many Spring Festival holidays in Qatar since the company was built there in 2012 and contracted five projects after that. He was always the first one to come to the construction and the last one to leave.

“The hotel is the best gift we could give to the world when the 2022 World Cup arrives,” Jiang said. The hotel, which is 120 meters south of the sea and adjacent to the airport lanes, is a 13-story building. The project is scheduled to be completed in 21 months.

Currently, 400 workers are building the major structure of the building. The wisdom, speed, and quality of the construction have earned the Chinese company applause from the clients, said the project manager Yang Guohui.

About 400 workers from Qatar, India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines were employed for the construction. They spent the Lunar New Year’s Eve with their Chinese counterparts, pasting Spring Festival couplets and making dumplings.
