Chinese people are now looking for more personalized travel experiences and tours, as more people today travel overseas thanks to the country's continuous consumption upgrading, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Feb. 1.

Traditional group tours and independent trips are no longer able to satisfy the needs of travelers. Industry insiders forecasted that in the next five years, tailored travel services would make up 20 to 30 percent of the outbound travel market.

Tailored travel services enable tourists to plan a trip based on their interests. For example, a Chinese yoga practicer surnamed Wang said she is about to embark on a yoga journey to Rishikesh in India, the birthplace of yoga.

Wang will stay at a renowned yoga school throughout her trip. As a part of the journey, she is also scheduled to chant besides the Ganges River. She explained that these activities will make her trip stand out in a sea of other Indian itineraries.

Themed tours are also growing in popularity. For example, thrill-seekers or military enthusiasts can now book themselves on a tour of World War II sites in Russia, where participants can test drive fighter jets and learn about World War weapons.

People are also able to focus their trip around a particular game. For example, Japan has become a hot destination for fans of the game Travelling Frog, where they can see frogs similar to the ones they raise in the game in Nagoya, Uji Bridge, and hot springs & geysers in Gunma Prefecture.

The growing difference in traveler needs requires organizers to gain more information about customers before creating tours and products for them.
