The Oxford China’s Tango with the World Summit 2019 took place last weekend at the Examination Schools of the University of Oxford. Over 300 delegates took part in four thematic breakout sessions on global governance, economics, cutting-edge technology and Chinese talents abroad.
In 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid his first official visit to the U.K., during which the two nations announced their comprehensive strategic partnership and their commitment to building a “Golden Era” in bilateral relations.

The U.K. is now the top recipient of Chinese FDI in Europe and has become China’s second largest trading partner in Europe. Through various social and political initiatives, China is taking a more prominent role in driving innovation, and is adhering to social responsibilities and sustainability through initiatives such as the Belt & Road. These aim to provide a better future for the people of China and indeed the world.
Guest panel speakers including elite scholars from the University of Oxford, senior business leaders, entrepreneurial visionaries, forward-thinking tech-innovators, and field experts came together for a multidisciplinary and multidimensional debate on China’s development.
The Summit was live-streamed by the Phoenix New Media broadcasting team and reached audiences all over the world.
