More than 400 people attended, including guests from state and local governments, Consular Corps, Chinese communities, enterprises and student representatives.

Ms. Lanjing He, Consul-General of the People's Republic of China to Adelaide, sent her New Year greetings and addressed the reception.

Ms. He indicated that the relationship between China and South Australia is an integral part of the China-Australia relationship. In recent years, the two sides have achieved remarkable results in the exchanges and cooperation in various areas such as trade, the economy, science and technology, education, culture and tourism. Local Chinese people have played an essential role in promoting economic and social development, the multicultural prosperity of Australia, and exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

Ms. He highlighted that late last year, China held a grand meeting to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the country’s reform and opening-up, during which President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech. China's reform and opening-up is a great revolution in the history of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. It also shows China's strengthening cooperation with other countries towards win-win outcomes. China will stay committed to reform and opening-up and promote joint efforts to build a community with a shared future for humankind.
