A smart camera system able to reduce football hooliganism was developed by a company affiliated to City Football Super League (CFL), one of the country's amateur football tournaments.
It is learnt that a football pitch can be covered by only three cameras, and the behavior and performance of each player and referee can be extracted from the system. With relevant equipment and software, the camera system can also broadcast games.
Liu Bingrun, chairman of the CFL, told Xinhua News Agency that no violent incidents occurred during the nearly 4,000 games of this season after the system had been installed.
He noted that 3,500 Chinese football tournaments have purchased this system for data collection, as well as for the prevention and targeted punishment of violence.
Tournaments adopting the system share the same player registration system, therefore those players on the blacklist of the system will not be able to sign up for other football leagues under same supervision.
