"Mr. Do it all" Chinese toddler becomes online celebrity for his housekeeping skills

A three-year-old boy from Sichuan province has become an online celebrity after his mom posted a video of him cooking, shopping and planting flowers on Chinese social media, with many netizens calling the toddler “Mr. Do it all.”

In the 47-second video clip, the toddler demonstrates his talents by cooking a delicious meal for his parents, planting flowers to decorate his home, as well as selecting ingredients at a local market. The video has garnered over 7.6 million views since it was posted on Nov. 20, receiving mixed reactions from the public.

“I feel ashamed after watching this video. I am 30 years old and still cannot cook a proper meal for myself, let alone take care of my parents. This little dude is a good example, I am sure he will become a reliable man in the future,” a netizen wrote on Sina Weibo.

Some other internet users expressed their concern, noting that such housework is not suitable for a child so young, and that parents shouldn't force children to cook for them.

In response to the online discussion, the boy’s mother, surnamed Cao, told the Chengdu Business Herald that her son chooses to do chores, and she is willing to support his wish to become independent.

“We have made sure that the kitchen is safe for him. If he wants to help me with the housework, then I should respect that. It is ok for him to be mediocre in his studies, but he has to learn the tricks of survival,” said Cao.

She further noted that kids are curious and want to try everything they can get their hands on. Instead of stopping them, parents should teach them the correct way to deal with dangers and problems.
