Fresh tropical fruits, seafood, high-quality makeup products, and cutting-edge technology are now available for purchase at permanent exhibition and trading platforms set up for the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai.

To make the best use of the opportunities provided by CIIE, Shanghai’s government in April set up permanent trading platforms to exhibit global imports during the six-day Expo and the year after. The first batch of projects includes 30 platforms that are divided into four types: comprehensive services, cross-border e-commerce, professional trading, and national commodities, according to ThePaper.

Orient International Import Country (Region) Communities Center, one of the “6 days + 365 days” permanent exhibition and trading platforms, opened on Wednesday after five months of trial operations.

The first phase of the exhibition center, with an open area of 1,000 square meters, has attracted more than 100 well-known brands from more than 30 countries, everything from sweets and fashion to home furnishings.

“Consumers can buy commodities directly at the retail area or order them online to enjoy home delivery services,” said a staff member at the center.

Covering 600,000 square meters, the largest exhibition platform, Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, will be divided into different areas namely, import commodity sales, cross-border e-commerce, functional services, and supporting services. After CIIE, the exhibits for home appliances, cosmetics, health products, foods, and agricultural products will be available for purchase in this center. Those who failed to get a booth at CIIE can also showcase here.

Donghao Lansheng Import Commodities Exhibition Center is located on the third floor of the National Convention and Exhibition Center, where the Expo is held, will mainly display large-scale imported goods, such as health care products, sports equipment, intelligent consumer goods, daily necessities for infants and the elderly, and high-quality imported foods and national specialties, as well as other products.

In addition to offering more choices for Chinese consumers, these special platforms will also provide services for global enterprises so that their goods and technologies can successfully enter the Chinese market. For example, major retailers in the world can rely on leading retail enterprises in China and abroad to build an offline direct sales platform.
