5G technologies to shine at the China International Import Expo

At the China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai, China’s three major telecommunications giants (China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom) and some related companies will showcase their latest achievements in 5G technologies.

According to the analysis of professionals, CIIE will not only serve as a stage for 5G companies to show their achievements, but will also open a door for 5G competition.

“5G show” of China’s three telecommunications giants

China Mobile Shanghai Branch has built more than 20 5G base stations in the exhibition center of the expo and plans to introduce the world’s first integrated 5G base station in the main exhibition hall. The company will also showcase the application of 5G technology in various industries in a special booth, according to a report by International Finance News.

Visitors will experience the fast speed of 5G, which exceeding 1G per second. In addition, the company has deployed a 360-degree HD video camera on its emergency communication vehicle, which enables multi-channel HD video transmission with 5G bandwidth.

China Telecom in Shanghai, known as Shanghai Telecom, said that 5G network coverage tests have been completed in the main area of the exhibition hall, which will enable the real-time broadcast of 4K video signals through the fast network during the expo.

China Unicom in Shanghai has built five 5G base stations in the exhibition hall and will display a 5G smart factory with applications such as transport robots and assembly robotic arm.

5G new achievements unveiled at CIIE

Enterprises such as Qualcomm, Samsung, and Nokia will also show off their latest achievements in 5G.

Samsung said it will cooperate with NEC in the field of 5G communication systems and the two companies will jointly develop a base station and 5G related services for the global market.

Nokia has deployed a 5G experimental network in Shanghai and plan to combine technologies such as the “Internet of Things,” big data, artificial intelligence, and super chips with the latest 5G applications, such as 5G remote touch, smart city operation, and emergency communication.

Qualcomm plans to demonstrate its innovative technologies, products, and solutions in 5G as well as its collaboration with Chinese governments and companies, according to Zhao Bin, the firm’s senior vice president.
