The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai on November 5-10. The Expo Media Center officially opened on Sunday and more than 4,100 registered journalists from 630 domestic and foreign media will broadcast the grand event to the world from the center.

For the past two days, People's Daily Online reporters have visited each functional area and felt the media center's careful, attentive, and intimate service to journalists. The media center, with a total area of 13,000 square meters, has set up various functional areas, such as a consulting service area, public work area, dedicated work area, new media area for radio and television, press release hall, and catering and leisure service area, and provided full-coverage wireless network.

24-hour multi-language public signal

In the public work area on the second floor, each workstation is equipped with a power interface, a network interface, and a digital audio interface in the 1,100-square-meter hall that can accommodate nearly 500 journalists. There are four high-definition large screens and several small screens in the work area to broadcast live videos in real time.

Media work area liaison officer Chen Yuan said that journalists can obtain multi-language audio information of public live broadcasts through the audio interface on the workstation and use the button to switch channels and find the language they need. The audio language information changes in accordance with the sessions and can provide information in Chinese, English, Russian, French, Arabic, or Spanish.

Lockers with face recognition technology

There is a row of blue lockers on the wall of the media work area, which, although they appear quite normal, are equipped with face recognition technology. Reporters don’t need any codes or tickets to open the lockers.

Besides the multiple conveniences that are offered in the media center, the Expo also has an online media center for instantly posting official information and interview notices. In addition, it can provide diverse media services, including text and picture downloading and interview reservations.

Thumbs up for the considerate, comprehensive, and high-tech media center at the first-ever China International Import Expo!
