Shanghai: the door of the world’s reception room is opening

The China International Import Expo (CIIE), the world’s first-ever import-centered national expo, will open at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC)in Shanghai on November 5.

The four-leaf clover shaped building has refreshed its appearance to welcome guests from all over the world and now it looks like a charming colorful butterfly in west Shanghai. Sight lamps along the 20-mile-long Huangpu River bank will deliver magnificent night scenery for the upcoming guests.

Li Qiang, the secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Committee, said at Shanghai Tower on Oct. 29 when he met major participants of the World Laureates Forum that the Times Square of New York City is known as the “crossroads of the world," but that districts on both sides of the Shanghai’s Huangpu River will be known as the “world’s reception room.”

Shanghai has refined city management and improved the quality of its services in preparation for the event. The glorious oriental city is embracing global guests with a more open stance.

With the slogan of “New Era, Shared Future,” CIIE has attracted over 3,000 enterprises from 81 countries. More than 5,000 products will make their debuts at the expo and 12 countries, which have been granted the status of “Guest of Honor,” will showcase their unique products and technologies. Over 130 high-level political dignitaries and 1,500 delegates from related international organizations, global business sector, academic sector, domestic ministries and commissions, and Chinese regions will attend the CIIE opening ceremony.

As the countdown clock to the opening of CIIE ticks away, a batch of latest products from home and abroad are being carried to the coastal city of Shanghai on the East China Sea by freighters and flights from across the world. These products will soon unveil their mysterious masks.

Many world-renowned enterprises have confirmed their participation in CIIE, including US-based General Electric Company and Qualcomm Inc, UK’s Jaguar Land Rover and AstraZeneca plc., Japan-based Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, Germany-based Schunk, and South Korea’s Samsung.

Despite star products like smart and high-end equipment, consumer electronics, household electrical appliances, beverages and foods, clothes, and medical equipment are also attracting attention. CIIE, with diversified and premium products on display, will be the best place to buy high-quality global products.

CIIE is so attractive that its influence has spread nationwide and even worldwide.A total of 160 thousand buyers already have a purchase menu in their hands. Enterprises, busy in communicating with CIIE exhibitors, cannot wait to set off toward Shanghai for CIIE.

Among Shanghai enterprises, 150 thousand purchasers have registered for CIIE, over 10 thousand enterprises have expressed their intent to purchase in the coming five years, and over 100 enterprises plan to buy products worth more than a billion yuan.

Against the blue sky, the chubby CIIE mascot Jinbao stands in front of the NECC to welcome guests from all over the worldwitha four-leaf clover symbolizing “fortunate” in its hands.
