Huawei's mobile chief expresses confidence after Apple releases new models

(People's Daily Online)    09:01, September 14, 2018

“Nice, we’ll see in London on Oct. 16!” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group on Chinese social media platform Weibo, shortly after Apple released new models on Sept. 13, Beijing time, expressing confidence in Huawei’s new model – the Mate 20 series, which is set to be released next month in London.

Apple unveiled four products at this year’s launch event, including the anticipated iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR. However, compared with previous generations, these new models failed to meet the high expectations of the public.

At a time when many say that Apple is on a downward trend when it comes to innovation, the Huawei Mate 20 series is igniting people’s passion.

Based on what has already been leaked on the Mate 20 series, Yu’s post showcased nothing but confidence.

The Mate 20 series will be the first Huawei phone to be powered by the firm's new Kirin 980 chipset. This latest chipset is expected to make the series the most powerful model released in the second half of 2018.

No matter what, Apple will face the challenge of the Mate 20 series. Let’s wait and see what happens at Huawei’s launch event on Oct. 16.
