A report explaining how Chinese engineers have used a drone to build a mega bridge in southwest China recently went viral on overseas social media. Foreign internet users marveled at the feat of Chinese engineering, China Daily reported.
As of Aug. 16, social media reports on the topic had received over 3,600 likes. The video clip was released on Facebook by Xinhua News Agency and shows Chinese engineers using a drone to help install enormous bridge cables. The video had been watched 103,000 times and liked by 3,182 people.
In the video clip, the drone, carrying a 2,000m-long cable, flies from one end of the valley to the other, to connect the main towers.
The 2,009m-long bridge, which sits over a river valley spanning 1,200 meters, is the longest of its kind in Asia and will open to traffic in 2019. The deck of the bridge is 228 meters above the ground, equivalent to a 70-story building.
Internet user XULQI MOON called it a marvel of engineering, saying it is impressive and mind-blowing, showing the respect that Pakistan has for China.
Takawira Gara commented on Facebook, "China is great and the people of China are great....their dreams are also great."
Canadian internet user Eric Grondin also noted that China continues to lead the world in engineering projects and sent a big congratulations from Canada.
