A Chinese railway expert has said that China could develop a super high-speed rail from Shanghai to Hangzhou in the next 10 years, cctv.com reported.
High-speed trains in China currently run at up to 420 kilometers per hour, with the test speed at 486 kilometers per hour. To operate at test speed, the issue of reducing noise and vibration needs further investigation, said He Huawu, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
He said Chinese experts who created the complicated high-speed railway system have seen it go from nothing to a strong player worldwide. However, they are still working on remaining issues to make sure that they do not fall behind.
Chinese experts experienced foreign high-speed railways and undersea tunnels in the 20th century and decided to produce their own high-speed railways using Chinese technologies.
