Snow dog sculpture in NW China to welcome the New Year

(People's Daily Online)    13:38, February 08, 2018

“Crouching Dogs,” the world’s largest snow sculpture, met the public Wednesday in northwest China’s Shenyang in preparation for the Chinese New Year and international ice and snow festival, Chinanews.com reported in Shenyang on Feb. 7.

The giant dogs were made with 60 thousand cubic meters of artificial snow, and took some one hundred sculptors a week to complete. The Guinness World Records office in Shanghai has certified it as the largest snow sculpture in the world. People came to visit the sculpture wishing good luck and prosperity for the upcoming Year of the Dog.

The 2018 Shenyang International Ice and Snow Festival will kick off on the second day of the Lunar New Year, with over 400 ice lanterns and fascinating 3D lights to entertain the public. The giant dog sculpture will be the main attraction at the snow festival.
