Main construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project will be completed Tuesday, and is ready for final inspection, Chinanews.com reported on Feb 4.
The two words “magnificent” and “marvelous” were most frequently used by the designers and expert engineers last Sunday when they visited the to-be-delivered manmade sea crossing connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The world’s longest manmade sea crossing was noted by The Guardian as one of the “seven wonders of the modern world.” It is 50 kilometers in length, and is expected to serve for 120 years.
The bridge has met all standards and requirements regarding design, construction, and architecture technology, said Man-Chung Tang, an America-born Chinese and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, adding that China is now capable enough to build such a huge bridge.
Chief Engineer Lin Ming said that all the engineers are excited that their seven-years of efforts will be delivered on Feb. 6, and they are ready to bid farewell to the project.
It’s hoped that more Hong Kong people can know more about the bridge, especially its innovations, the head of the Chinese Culture Promotion Society in Hong Kong said.
With the help of greater infrastructure connectivity, people in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area can choose to work in one city while living in another. Many infrastructure projects will help turn the area into a more dynamic economic zone that is suitable for living, doing business, and travelling.
