China and the UK decided to set up an entrepreneurs’ council during British Prime Minister Teresa May’s visit in China from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, seeking to enhance trade and cooperation.
The China-UK entrepreneurs’ council was established Wednesday after Prime Minister Theresa May’s arrival in China, according to the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of China.
May’s visit to China focuses on promoting bilateral trade and the “golden decade” of cooperation.
A series of deals will be signed between the two countries during May’s visit, one of which will allow the UK to resume the export of beef to the country after a 22-year ban.
The lift on the ban is encouraging for the UK’s farmers, as beef and dairy products from Britain will regain access to the Chinese market once the new agreement takes effect within the next six months.
The new joint business council will work as a bridge between enterprises of all industries from both countries, and provide a platform for effective communication between governments and companies, so as to drive the UK-China cooperation in economic and trade development.
In the same month, France-China entrepreneurs’ council was established as a fruit of French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to China.
