Passengers on board high-speed trains can only order meals one hour prior to departure time starting from Jan. 18, which has been cut from the previous two hours by China Railway Corporation (CRC), the reported.

Passengers can order their meals or return food orders via CRC’s official train ticket booking website or mobile app one hour ahead of departure time, and the meal will be delivered to the passenger’s seat by railway staff.

CRC says the move is to better meet passenger needs and improve its service.

In addition, to enrich the selection, passengers will also be able to order local specialties along the journey.

The online food ordering service on board high-speed trains was launched by CRC on July 17, 2017, and the service has been widely welcomed by the public, with many seeing it as an innovative way to satisfy passenger needs.
