Fear not a broken iPhone X screen, Chinese insurance company at your rescue

The dazzling debut of the iPhone X and its official launch on November 3 in China have once again drawn the nation’s eyes to the glowing phone and its first OLED screen, as well as its four-digit price tag. But that beauty comes at a price, because its glass body and screen are both fragile.

In response, Chinese company Sinosafe Insurance rolled out iPhone screen insurance on the same day of its official launch. For 189 yuan, one can enjoy the insurance for a full year. If the iPhone X screen breaks during that period, the customer can recover the damage at up to 3,000 yuan. Customers can bring their broken iPhone X to any repair shop in 43 cities across China, CNTV reported.

Of all the 25,000 smartphone screen insurance policies sold by Sinosafe on Alipay in the past three years, more than 3,000 are for the iPhone X, proving its popularity in China.

The insurance is widely seen as a good way to protect the glass phone. Several iPhone X owners in China have already posted images of their cracked phones on social media, complaining about their own butter fingers and the beautiful but fragile design.

Many netizens said the insurance is priced properly. The iPhone X is currently priced at 8,388 yuan in China and the service to repair a broken screen is 2,288 yuan.
