Spark Marker, a 3D printer developed by a young Chinese R&D team, recently hit a remarkable crowdfunding target of over $500,000, jxnews.com.cn reported on Oct. 9.

The popular 3D printer is affordable and easy to use. It was independently developed by a young research team lead by Zeng Jiangyue, a mechanical automation graduate from Jiangxi University of Science and Technology in eastern China.

The 22-year-old, who had just graduated from university last year, established a strong interest in 3D printing technology during his time at university, and co-founded a 3D printer company before graduation.

More people would embrace 3D printing if operation is easy and price is affordable, said Zeng, and that is exactly what his team aims for.

Spark Marker is an independent photo curing system that can work without a computer. A single machine sells for $99, making it the world’s first SLA photo curing 3D printer under $200.

Now, the innovative printer has gained over $500,000 in funds through Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects, within a month and a half. A large number of foreign educational institutions and enterprises have shown great interest in its commercial use.
